Cruella review: The best Disney remakes features Emma Stone's best performance since La La Land

Within the past few years, we've had a series of live-action Disney remakes ranging from good to meh, "Cruella" takes the top of the podium of being the best Disney remake ever. The newest film from director Craig Gillespie follows in 2019's "Joker" footsteps by creating a backstory for an iconic villain that we never knew we needed yet filled with heartbeat and turmoil. Emma Stone portrays the iconic villain Cruella de Vil and delivers a fantastic performance. Stone's take on Cruella de Vil is a character you feel sorry for, and eventually, you begin to understand why she chooses the life she ends up getting. The film also contains excellent performances by the supporting cast, including Emma Thompson, Joel Fry, Paul Walter Hauser, and Mark Strong. Inspired by London's 1970 punk rock era, "Cruella is a fashionable nightmare come to life through its wicked costume design and Craig Gillespie's vision on how dark and twisted the world through the eyes of Cruella de Vil. Thanks to Craig Gillespie's amazing direction, gorgeous costumes, and an incredible performance by Emma Stone, "Cruella" is the best live-action Disney remake I have seen. Emma Stone's portrayal of Cruella is her best performance since her Oscar-winning performance in 2016's "La La Land."
