The sequel to the 2020 film based on the famed video game franchise is back with more hilarious moments and exciting new characters to help make this film superior to the original movie. Jeff Fowler returns to direct the sequel and provides a lot of humor and emotion to create a fun and exciting film that kids and adults can enjoy. Ben Schwartz is fantastic as Sonic the Hedgehog making him one of the most likable characters in recent years. Also returning from the previous film are James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, and Jim Carrey, the latter of which once again steals the show as Dr. Robotnik. We also meet two new characters who were key members of the video games series, including Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails and Idris Elba as Knuckles. Both characters are fantastic new additions to Sonic’s adventures, with both actors giving great performances and bringing a lot of charm and charisma to their roles. While the film could have been ten minutes shorter due to containing elements that felt forced, “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” is a great sequel that is better than the original. Thanks to Jeff Fowler’s direction, comedic moments will have you laughing from start to finish, excellent special effects, and fantastic performances, particularly from Ben Schwartz, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Idris Elba, and Jim Carrey.
