After having five days to sit and think about this film, "Three Thousand Years of Longing" is a boring history lesson that feels like a homework assignment that will turn into a pop quiz that you didn't take notes on. George Miller's direction is visually stunning; however, it is quickly overshadowed by a screenplay that contains too much plot exposition, slow pacing, and a story that has so much potential but fails to stick the landing. Besides the visuals, the only other good thing about this movie is that the performances of Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton are pretty good. Despite the two main leads' great visuals and good performances, "Three Thousand Years of Longing" might not be George Miller's worst film. Still, it is a divisive film that, just like last year's "Eternals," will have some interesting conversations on where you stand with the film. Personally, it was not my cup of tea, but I am fascinated to hear other people's opinions about this movie and where they stand.
